This book was different than any of the books I’ve read so far, but in a good way. I enjoyed reading it. It was suspenseful and full of encouragement to everyone who reads it. It’s a book that is based in the future how things would be and how horrible things have become in the story is heartbreaking. As soon as the story begins my heart was in my stomach and I was in knots. I was greatly afraid for Lexi. I just couldn’t stop reading because I needed to know how the story ended for her.

Lexi was such an amazing character. Even though she was terrified she was beyond brave and never stopped taking up for herself. I loved that even in such a dark place she didn’t let it break her or tear her down. She held her ground and never faltered. She still kept her heart open and cared for those around her. When she meets Alyssa all that love is brought to the surface and you can’t help but adore her and your heart will break for Alyssa. I was so glad that she had Cole to protect her.

Cole is absolutely wonderful. At first I wasn’t sure about him because of the fact he was a guard and I didn’t know if she could trust him. Then he proves himself time and time again. He was remarkable and just amazing. I couldn’t help but love him for everything he kept doing for Lexi. He protected her and never once thought about it. He didn’t care what the consequences were or if it cost him his life, he just did it. 

I loved that against all odds Lexi and Cole let themselves love and heal each other in the dark of the horrible place they were both in. Their relationship was forbidden but that didn’t matter as long as they had each other and showed one another how much they loved each other. I was blown away when everything came out. The fact that the people around her had a plan and wanted to make things better. I loved that everyone fought for what they believed was right. This is a great book to read and never once lets you down. I was always on edge and anticipating the next stop in the journey.

About the Authors
Abi and Missy met in the summer of 1999 at college orientation and have been best friends ever since. After college, they added jobs, husbands and kids to their lives, but they still found time for their friendship. Instead of hanging out on weekends, they went to dinner once a month and reviewed books. What started out as an enjoyable hobby has now become an incredible adventure.
