~VEDA'S REVIEW~ Trailer Park Princess by Delia Steele

                                 TRAILER PARK PRINCESS

                                                                   by Delia Steele

Rory used to count down the days until she could leave, but now with a younger brother in tow, it would be hard. She could never leave him. Rory is trapped in the Trailer Park like a princess in her tower, with her mother playing the big bad, drunken, fire-breathing dragon. The dream of her knight coming to save her faded away about the same time her goals changed. Feeling useless, and angry Rory starts her new school and gets trampled by none other than the Monroe Falls Golden Boy, Tobias West. She finds herself seeing him as the knight she dreamed of; though, she believes it to be just that, a dream. Tobias (Toby) is Mr. Popular/ Mr. Perfect/ Mr. Money-in-the-bank. He is too high on the social ladder to step down to her level. Or is he? Toby is smitten with Rory. Toby’s ex, Ashley, refuses to lose out to trailer park trash, and Rory finds herself the fuel to Ashley’s newfound hate. On top of Monroe Falls High School drama, Rory still has to deal with her drunken mother and needy brother. She doesn’t have time for childish games. Reality hits Rory hard when her mother brings home a ticking time bomb for a bed mate and the need for that shiny knight becomes real. Rome appears like she conjured him out of thin air with magical powers, and instantly becomes her best friend. He seems to always be around when she needs someone to talk to and seems to always know just how to fix it. (Did I mention he is drop dead beautiful?) Two knights in shining armor? Nope!! That doesn’t happen. Not in fairy tales, and definitely not in real life. Rory finds herself realizing there is a thin line between relationships and friendships, lines that are starting to blur. With Toby getting ready to leave for college, Ashley’s nonstop meanness, and Rome showing up, can Rory handle the pressure? Her old friend reality takes another whack at her, causing her dread and despair to take over. Rory is questioning herself, and it's wreaking havoc on the strong girl she’s always considered herself to be. Have her poor choices doomed her to life in the trailer park, or will she be able to exceed even her own expectations? Will she ever realize she is truly a princess worthy of getting her prince? Or will she simply survive? How does Rory’s story end?

This book is suited best for readers over the age of 17 due to sexual content and some language, as well as a few different types of abuse that are rarely talked about: Verbal, Mental, and to some extent, Sexual and Physical

                                   ~VEDA'S REVIEW~

Rory is a beautiful, quirky, funny and loveable girl born into the wrong life…if you ask me. Her heart is made of pure gold! She was dealt a bad hand and rolled with the punches. She takes care of her baby brother, goes to school and works part-time at a diner to play the role of the mom while the real mom (if that’s what you call her) stays drunk and absent from their lives. She “bumps” into Toby on her first day at her new school and is instantly captivated by him, just as he is with her. Her living in the trailer park, and him being the all American good boy, causes some complications between his friends and family but they don’t pay too much attention to that just yet. From the start Toby is her knight in shining armor and she falls fast in love. In love and inseparable, that is until Rome comes along. Football, Toby’s friends and his family, have a hand in all that. But more so the fact that Rome comes to Rory’s rescue when her idiot mother passes out and one of her nasty flings tries to get handsy with Rory. In comes Rome to open a can of whoop up and save the day!! They become fast best friends and end up hanging out more that she and Toby do. Things change, feelings change and tough decisions are made, but what will the outcome be? You’ll just have to read this little jewel to find out! I could NOT get over how much I loved this book!! I went from loving a character to hating them and back to loving them. Maybe not loving them, but definitely understanding them more. I swear this author picked my brain apart for some of the dialog between Rory and her best friend Mando! It’s O-V…All me! This book made me laugh so hard at times and cry at other times. I also have to say that the ending, for me, was perfection! I hear there is a book two and it’s coming soon, it couldn’t get to me fast enough! I can’t wait and I give Trailer Park princess 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I live in Mississippi better known as “THE SIP”, were I was born and raised, except for a short time I spent wondering the beaches of Destin Florida. I have two wild and weird (I’m told they take after me) kids, Dominick & Oliviana, who are the light in my life and married to a very patient and loving man named Rob. I work a full time job Monday – Friday in collections (No I didn't call you). I am half Mexican and half American in other words I AM BROWN! =] I enjoy singing extremely loud thou I can’t really, dancing around for hours which I do often, and watching my kids just be kids. I enjoy old music and great books. I am eclectic, and I’m pretty much always happy. I believe we should all have fun sometimes and then when we do something stupid, WE SHOULD WRITE ABOUT IT! If I could be anything when I grow up (yes when I grow up because I currently refuse to) I would want to be a full time superhero. Wear awesome boots, have long full flowing hair, wear my panties on the outside of my clothes (and have it be ok), ride on a magical horse with wings, and save the world. Who wouldn’t want to do that?
