*Randi's Review* Freeze Frame by Freya Barker & KT Dove

FREEZE FRAME
By: Freya Barker

Blurb

A new career, a new place, and a new man—you’d think after the rough year she’s had, Isla has finally found her stride. Of course it’s never that simple. Some dreams she is building, some dreams are taken away before they have a chance to form. But she never imagined that the one thing she’s worked so hard to realize, could be the cause it all breaks apart.

Ben doesn’t miss his assignments, his life of deceit, or his unsavory associations—but they appear to miss him. Just as he’s beginning to think perhaps there’s redemption for him after all, his dark past casts a long shadow.—and not just on him, but on the woman who made him believe.

*****

I was given the chance to read Freeze Frame, a Snapshot Novel, by Freya Barker in exchange for an honest review.

Well to start off I just want to say that I freaking love this book. It's the full length follow-up to the novella Shutter Speed. This book picks up right where Shutter Speed left off, and we get a front row seat as Isla and Ben start their new lives together.

They both get a chance to start over and have the kind of lives they had always thought was out of reach, but that they found in each other.
That is until a dark reminder of Ben's past of deception as an undercover agent, comes back to haunt him, threatening not only him, but Isla and the life they are building together as well.

One of the things that I just really love about this story, is how real it seems. These two people meet and it's not quite love at first sight, but it's as good as. They know they love each other and they know that they are moving kind of fast, but they just don't care.
They don't care if others think they are crazy for how quickly they are going forward in their relationship, and they don't care that they don't know every little thing about each other yet. They just care that they love each other and want to be together.

And that's another thing that makes it seem so true to life. They don't instantly know everything there is to know about the other. Even though they are so totally committed to the other, and know that they are completely in love, they are under no illusions about that simple fact.
Every day they are finding out new things about the other. Sometimes they like it, and sometimes they don't. But it's life, and it makes the story that much more believable and real, and enjoyable.

I don't want to spoil anything, but there are plenty of twists and turns along the way for these two characters, and lots of drama to keep anyone entertained. But most of all, there's a beautiful love story between two people that really deserve it.

I've only read a few books by Freya Barker, but I have quickly come to the conclusion that she's an amazing writer. She can so easily pull you into the story and make you wish that you were actually there with the characters, and that takes a truly talented person.
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Freya Barker inspires with her stories about 'real’ people, perhaps less than perfect, each struggling to find their own slice of happy. She is the author of the Cedar Tree Series and the Portland, ME, novels.

A recipient of the RomCon “Reader’s Choice” Award for best first book, “Slim To None”, and Finalist for the Kindle Book Award with “From Dust”, Freya has not slowed down.

Freya currently is working on two new series; the Snapshot series, and Northern Lights. She continues to spin story after story with an endless supply of bruised and dented characters, vying for attention!
