Captured Miracle by Alannah Carbonneau ~Randi's FIVE STAR Review~

Sometimes the darkest of hearts are the most blinding. Not because of their light, but because of their suffocating endlessness. The dark abyss of their possession claims you before you’re even aware of the capture.

Love is not linear. There is no timeline in which the emotion blooms. Sometimes it is a slow succession of events where one soul learns another and sometimes it’s quick. Sometimes it’s like lightning. Possessive.

That’s what Calix was to me. He infused himself within my life – my mind – my body – and my heart. Until he possessed my soul. And then he shattered it all.

The worst part of it all was that he owned me. Completely. And it only took him four days.

What started out as an act of revenge quickly becomes so much more. After years of plotting and two years of watching Nova, Calix takes her. In the dead of the night, three strange men in her room, tugging her from her bed, wake Nova. Terrified of forcing the men to act on their threats to harm her mother and sisters, Nova agrees to allow them to cart her from the safety of her home.

She never expected they would lead her to Calix. A dark and captivating man determined to have her as his wife – and every other way. As Nova tries to keep Calix from pushing his way past her barriers, his determination to capture her heart in the same way he captured her body grows. In his quest for her heart, Calix pushes her past her barriers and tests her every limit.

When her heart softens, the reason for the game of revenge turns very real and Calix is forced to tell Nova just why he took her. Only, the truth will harden the heart that had softened against him.

But Calix still won’t let Nova go.

Until the end of time, she is his.
***

This is an erotic romance. Captured Miracle is the first novel in what will be a three book series. This novel does end in a cliffhanger.

                                                   *****
Calix is a man that is strong and powerful and used to getting what he wants. But he has secrets that just might put what he wants most in jeopardy.
Twenty-one year old Nova is just like any other average girl. She has a love for all things romance and likes to watch sappy “chick-flicks” with her younger sister and dreams of her very own prince charming coming and sweeping her off her feet.
But when Calix has her stolen from her bed in the middle of the night, using threats against her mother and sisters to get her to go willingly, she's sure her dreams have come to an end.
Over the course of the next few days they will learn more about the other, as well as their own feelings, than they had ever planned to reveal, due in large part to the instant and unwanted connection Nova feels for the man holding her captive.
Will she ever see her family again? Will she ever be able to accept the growing, and confusing, feelings she has towards then man that flipped her life upside down?
Will Calix ever see that controlling someone, possessing them, isn't the same thing as loving them? Will he see that the way he's treated her isn't right, but he just might be able to fix it before it's too late?
I guess we'll just have to keep reading to find
out...
This book, the first in a trilogy, was
different than my normal read but I found myself really enjoying it. Much like Nova I found myself flip flopping back and forth in regards to my feelings about Calix. One moment I would find myself smiling and thinking that he was sweet and caring and then an instant later I would want to grab her and shake her and ask her “What are you thinking, softening to this man!?”
And then once again, I would find myself right back on his side, rooting for him to open up a little more so that she might be able to understand why he is doing the things he's doing.
I credit this to the very talented author of
this story, Alannah Carbonneau, and her exceptional storytelling. She has a way of telling her stories so well that you feel like you are a part of them. You feel invested in the characters and even when they might not be the most noble, you still find yourself rooting for them, hoping they can find a way to succeed in the end.

I'm so glad that I have had the chance to read
some of her books and I look forward to reading more.
