Vicious Looks by Loki Renard *Release*

Kitty's crossed the wrong people, and now her life is is in danger.
I have the power to save her. But I'm no hero.

She'll pay her dues.
Obey my rules.
Kitty's going to work for me.

If she's a good Kitty, she'll be well compensated.
If she's a bad Kitty, my bed awaits.

This city rewards the strong, punishes the weak, and destroys the innocent.
So do I.

A little whimper escapes me as I lie on the floor at his feet. It’s barely audible above the rumbling of the tires over New York streets, the occasional pot hole jolting me, the van swaying and sending me sliding gently across the floor when we go around corners. Large hands steady me. Are they his? Or is it the people who work for him keeping me from slamming my head into the sides of the van? Why does it matter? My mind is searching for some context. Why is this happening to me? I can’t think of anything specific, but almost anything is possible.
Breathe, I tell myself. Just breathe.
Right now, my breath is all I have control over. I try to slow it, stop it from being panicky and fast. I try to make it deep, from the belly. I need to be calm. Calm is the only way to survive.
I’m also trying to time how long the trip takes. It’s hard to keep a sense of it, but I still have my phone on me. It’s tucked into a little band inside the waist of my leggings. That could make all the difference later on. Even if I don’t know where I am in the end, I may be able to tell people how far I’ve been taken.
Twenty minutes after being taken, we stop. I’m dragged out of the van and carried somewhere. They don’t say a word, but I can hear gravel crunching beneath their feet, then going silent as they step onto firmer surface.
I’m put into a chair. The zip ties come off, but new bindings are wrapped around my wrists and ankles.
The gag is unwound from my mouth. Then the blindfold is tugged free. I find myself looking into his face. He’s close for a moment, and I see every hard line, every dimple, the scimitar curve of his smile. The breath goes out of me. He is stunning.
He steps back and the rest of the room rushes in. High ceilings. Plain white walls. Nothing about it gives me any clues as to where I am. The windows are covered over with Japanese style paper which lets in a little light, but cuts out the world behind.
This is bad. Very bad.
I am trying to not be so frightened that my brain shuts down, but I can’t help it. I’m terrified. This is not the man to be taken by. His reputation is legend, and his methods are as brutal as the are original.
I know him by one name: Vicious.
He’s in his late thirties. He has those green eyes which are infamous among the female members of our community, that dark hair which looks like it curls when its wet, a bit like mine. Right now it’s slicked back. He likes control, and every inch of his body reflects that.
Handsome is a word for models and television stars. He’s more than handsome. He’s enigmatic. Magnetic. Every inch of his body is worthy of attention, and I can’t stop staring.
Beneath that suit of his, I can only imagine the state of his body. Blaze says he’s tattooed and scarred. If she were here right now, she’d be drooling for him, because he’s every bit as impressive in person as he is in pictures.
His appeal is more than superficial. I get the impression that the world moves around him. My kidnap shows it. I was walking down a relatively busy street. He shouldn’t have gotten away with anything that brazen - but he just did.
“It’s nice to meet you, Kitty,” he says, giving me a bright smile. His dimples seem somewhat incongruous with the rest of his persona, but they add to his charm. That hard jaw, those masculine lips, that straight nose and those expressive eyes ringed with long dark lashes. His shoulders are broad, his hips are powerful. He’s an animal with all the vicious intelligence of a man.
I should be replying. I should have something intelligent to say. But I don’t. I’m made temporarily stupid by the suddenness of it all - and by the charm he exudes. The one mistake I’m not making right now is giving into that charm. I’m still smart enough to know I’m in danger. It doesn’t matter how attractive he is, he has just abducted me.

It's just as well Loki Renard became an author because other career paths proved disastrous. She was once thrown out of someone's house for trying to sell them citrus based cleaning product, and her brief brush with corporate life ended when she wrote profiles for her fellow employees likening them to various feral animals then attempted to negotiate the idea of not coming into the office and getting paid anyway. Perhaps if she'd had the dedication to slug herself in the face a la Fight Club, things might have turned out differently.

Valentine Countdown Blitz* The Woman With No Name by Kelly Nelson

Kelly Nelson graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree. She worked in public accounting for four years before starting a horse-boarding business so she could be more involved in raising her family. As an avid book lover, she later decided to pursue a career in writing. Her published works include The Keeper’s Saga, a young adult fiction series, Love’s Deception, an LDS romance, and The Woman with No Name. Her newest novel was selected as a finalist in the romance category for the 2018 writing contest of the Pacific Northwest Writer's Association. She resides Cornelius, Oregon with her husband, four children, and a herd of horses.

Losing her memory might lead to finding happily ever after.

Sworn bachelor Colton Murdock gets more than he bargained for on the elk hunt when he finds an injured woman in Utah’s high country. She must have a history, but she wakes up to towering pines and the clap of a thunderstorm with no recollection of her name or how she came to be there. Colt brings her to the safety of his camp, trying to ignore the first stirrings of his heart since the tragic death of his fiancée six years ago.

The young woman can’t help falling for her ruggedly handsome rescuer, who calls her Skye for her blue eyes. But her life goes into a tailspin when she is recognized as Lily Vanasche, fiancée of a popular TV news anchorman, and Colt is arrested for a series of crimes—including her abduction. After the real kidnapper leaves a death threat in Lily’s ransacked house, the clock starts ticking. Can she remember her past before it catches up with her?

Praise for The Woman with No Name:
Kelly Nelson writes sweet romance that tugs at your heartstrings. —Susan Hatler, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author

Q&A With the Author:

1.     Tell us about things you enjoy — what you do for fun or personal satisfaction besides writing?
Horses are a life-long love of mine. There’s nothing that rejuvenates me more than cantering through the nut orchard, feeling the rocking cadence of my horse’s gait. Also, I can never get enough of traveling the world, though the horses make it difficult to leave home sometimes. But when I just need to unwind, nothing beats dark chocolate and a good romance novel.
2.     When did you first realize you were an author?
I started my first book when I was 15, then began another about a decade later, but I didn’t consider myself a true author until 2009 when I wrote a time-travel trilogy The Keeper’s Saga.
3.     Have you done anything writing-related, but besides actually writing your books, that seemed to get a lot of positive response? Something that encouraged you?
Hoping to inspire one of my kids who was going through a tough time, I wrote a parable titled The Lost One. Over the years, I have shared the story with many people. Seeing their positive response encourages me to keep writing.
4.     What is the thing you struggle with the most while writing? And how do you defeat it?
I love the writing and creating aspects of being an author. It is some of the publishing facets of the business that pose a struggle. I am looking for a larger publisher for my current projects, so it is a little like starting over at square one. That can feel really discouraging at times.
5.     What is the “message” of your writing? (For example, is your purpose to encourage old-fashioned values, encourage romance, or do you have different purposes in different books?)
Hope and a sense of adventure. Hope that despite what happened in the past or where you are now, there is always hope for the future. A couple of years ago I had this epiphany: Today’s heartache and tragedy should not define our future, but should be the prologue for tomorrow’s happily ever after.
I want to inspire a sense of adventure and immerse readers in another world. Author Anne Perry once said, “We get to live only one life, but by reading well we can experience many.” That is my goal. Help readers experience different lives through the characters in my books.
6.     Are your characters/stories/scenes, etc. based on anything in real life?
To some extent, always! Though usually the real-life part is small enough that only I see the connection and know about it. As an author, all of my experiences impact my writing. In 2010, my husband drew an elk tag for a premier unit in Utah. I joined him in elk camp for two days, inspiring the characters and backdrop for The Woman with No Name.
My sister’s husband served in the Air Force and completed multiple tours to Afghanistan, inspiring one of the characters in Love’s Deception. The main character boards horses and her love interest is a CPA. Since I have worked in both of those professions, I drew on my personal experiences to write many of the scenes.
7.     What are your future projects?
I have two projects in the works:
An Inconvenient Marriage

The terms governing Amelia Grayson’s trust fund propel her into an unlikely match in this modern-day marriage of convenience. Montana cowboy Garrett Strong, wants nothing to do with marriage after his first attempt failed, while Amelia’s eccentrically old-fashioned grandmother insists her granddaughter be married before she sees a cent of her trust fund money. Garrett and Amelia bid against each other for the Double J Ranch, but for completely opposite reasons. When it appears neither of them will secure a contract to buy the ranch, a marriage of convenience might be the only solution. After a private investigator digs up secrets from Garrett’s past and a land-hungry cattle company willing to bend the law sets its sights on the Double J, will their fragile relationship shatter or can they build a foundation that will last the test of time?
Selected as a finalist in the Pacific Northwest Writers Association contest for the romance category, this will soon be pitched to literary agents and editors.

Hidden Heir

After commoner Dade Hawkes rescues Greer’s lost princess, he doesn’t expect to see her again, but a mysterious summons from the king changes that. Princess Tessalyn of Greer knows her duty. Getting married off in a political ploy is a risk she had no choice but to accept the moment she took her first breath. However, she never thought feelings toward a commoner would get in her way. When a forbidden attraction becomes an impossible situation, Tessalyn must escape her betrothal or spend a lifetime married to the brother of the man she loves. The fates meddle with their futures as ancient secrets catch up to the royal families of Greer and Nebani in this fantasy adventure.
This YA trilogy needs a literary agent and a publisher.

Down We'll Come, BabyDown We'll Come, Baby by Carrie Aarons
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Down We'll Come, Baby by Carrie Aarons is one of the sweetest and most beautiful love stories. It's one of those books where the characters have to decide if the love they share is worth fighting for. So prepare yourself for one emotional roller coaster.

Imogen and Theo are one of the most amazing couples. I loved these two together more than I can say. They seemed to make each other better and they completely get one another. Even if Theo didn't agree with Imogen's families way of doing things, he still loved her unconditionally and that never wavered. Imogen sets out trying to find her way back to herself because her and Theo go through so much loss together that she just can't seem to figure out if they can love each other like they always have. But what she doesn't see is how Theo feels, how even thinking of losing her is breaking him and that no matter how it all goes, he's going to love her till his last breathe. Theo was my absolute favorite thing about this book. His sincerity and love are breathtaking. By the end of the book, I was swooning and so full of love. I enjoyed getting to know these characters and watching their love fight to overcome every obstacle that's thrown their way.

I give Down We'll Come, Baby by Carrie Aarons 4 out of 5 STARS!

  Book Blurb:

Imogen There is no way we can still love and cherish one and other. When I married Theo Walsh, the rough, bearded townie who worked construction on my family’s summer house, I’d found my happily ever after. That was before the fighting. Before the jealousy. Before the infertility. We’ll be divorced long before death does us part. But to secure my place in the family dynasty, there is just one more hoop I have to jump through. And I need him to do it. Faking the marriage we once thrived in will gut me. Especially with the secret I’m carrying. Theo I would have sacrificed for her until the end of time. My job. My home. My happiness. I’d given it all up to marry her. That’s how much I loved Imogen Weston, the daughter to one of the world’s richest families. From the day we met, I’d done nothing but try to live up to the man she expected to be with. And now, I was done. Sure, I’d complete this one final ask of hers, even if it destroyed me. But I’ve made her promise the one thing that might save me. She swore that after she got everything she ever wanted, she wouldn’t look back. I made my wife vow to leave me forever.
